Summertime!

 

 

It has been several months since I sent out a Newsletter, and I have spent the time trying to decide exactly what I wanted the Newsletter to say, and how to go about getting to that point. I very much want something that will allow those of you who “subscribe” to the Newsletter to learn from reading it, and I also want something that will cause you to send the Newsletter on to your friends and family. I know that in essence I am “preaching to the choir” when I write this Newsletter, and I want to inform you and not insult you.

 

Right now, our country is faced with something I never thought I’d see in my lifetime. There is serious discussion about the government taking over almost 20% of our economy. And that 20% is our health care. The people who would be running the health care system for all of us are the same people who had over a year to get ready for the so-called “swine flu epidemic,” and they are not even close to being ready for what they themselves predicted.

 

So, what are we to do with this prospect staring us in the face? We must start right now to take care of our own health. We cannot depend on the people who say “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you” to take care of us. The gauntlet is coming down, and if you have not started yet, you’d better start soon to take care of your own health and to encourage those you love to do the same! It’s never too late or too early to start!!! Whether you are in the final half of your life or you are just starting out, you can attain a level of health that will keep you well and you will not have to depend on the government or your doctor to stay healthy. The question becomes one of responsibility. Who is responsible for your health and well-being—you or someone else?

 

Right now—put down this Newsletter and make some notes. How badly do you want good health? How badly do you want your children to grow up to be healthy, vibrant, active adults? How badly do you want to see your Grandchildren have children? Now realize that no one else in the world wants those things for you as bad as you want them for yourself. If you get sick, no one will care nearly as much as you. If your children get sick, no one will care as much as you do. So, take charge from this moment on!

 

Why do I say this now? Because we have lost our way! We have gotten away from the very Nature of our Beings. We do not even eat real food anymore, and most of us don’t even realize it! Food, water and air—necessary for life, but we have contaminated them all. We have even gotten ourselves all mixed up as to what the words of our health care mean. By this I am pointing to what the medical establishment calls “prevention.” For example, they call a mammogram “prevention” for breast cancer. But what does a mammogram show? It shows cancer already present. How is that prevention? Even the better choice of a Thermogram for breast imaging (see previous Newsletters) is not “preventive.”

 

The sicknesses that our society is battling are all diseases at the cellular level. My friend and mentor Robert Crayhon has called Nutritionists in particular and Natural Doctors in general “Specialists in the area of repair of cellular membranes.” We are finding that if the cells that make up the body are healthy the body is healthy. Likewise, once the cells get sick the body gets sick. The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink are all poisoning our cells. This is the nature of all disease.

 

The prescription drugs that we are taking for all of these “new” diseases are poisoning our cells in the name of treating symptoms. Next year, cancer will officially become the number one killer disease of our society. There is no question in anyone’s mind that cancer is a disease of sick cells. And what does the medical establishment do for prevention of cancer? They recommend tests that only show the presence of the disease already and say nothing of what caused the disease or how to prevent it.

 

How do you start to take charge of your own health? The first thing you do is follow the advice of Thomas Jefferson—“Question with boldness. Question everything!” Question even what you read in my Newsletters! If you don’t understand something, make whoever recommends it explain why what they are proposing is true and applies to you! And educate yourself about every problem. Remember that information is ultimate power!

 

And you can begin to put the proper fuel into your body. If you have been Nutritionally (or Metabolically) Typed, eat only the foods for your Type. This is so important to everyone. I am always impressed when I read what an Integrative Oncologist in New York, by name of Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, says about his patients. He talks about the diets of his patients varying from almost all vegetables and fruits for some patients to eating red meat 2-3 times per day for others!! Think about that—that is truly a remarkable difference depending on Biochemical Individuality! The only way to find what your individual biochemical markers are is through Nutritional Typing. It is so important that it even determines how to have the healthiest bone. For example, if you are a Carb Type, you should emphasize magnesium and potassium for strong bones, while if you are a Protein Type, you should emphasize calcium and phosphorus. Not emphasizing the proper foods and nutrients will actually damage your bone!!

 

Once you know what your Type is, there are four rules to follow regarding diet:

 

1.     Eat a Primitive Diet: This consists of foods that a cave-person would recognize if they walked into your local supermarket. Of course, they would recognize the vegetables, some of the fruits, unprocessed grains, birds (turkeys and chickens included), eggs, and the red meats. They also would recognize nuts and seeds. They did not drink milk, and neither should we!!

2.     Eat mostly plants: you should strive for a minimum of 5 servings of vegetables per day. This type of food should supply around 50 grams of fiber.

3.     Eat less food: we are the most overfed and undernourished society in the history of the world! We just don’t need so many calories. Studies have shown that caloric restriction increases lifespan! Just plain and simple, we eat too much!

4.     All of our produce (fruits and vegetables) should be organic. This means that it is produced without pesticides and insecticides, hormones, etc. It should be “clean” food. It also should be as fresh as possible, and you only get really fresh food if you buy locally. Chicken, turkeys, and their eggs must be free-range (cage-free means nothing). Beef must be grass-fed and without hormones or antibiotics at any time in its life. Corn-fed meat is a disaster to our bodies. Wild game and fish is the only acceptable way to eat. Farm raised fish is actually as dangerous as the corn-fed beef.

 

Just following this regimen will lead us to healthy eating. I can teach you so much more when you are Nutritionally Typed. If you have been Typed in the past but feel you need an update, please call me and I will set you up with a free ½ hour consultation to get you back on track. For my patients in Towson and the Baltimore area I am offering two options: We are often in the Baltimore and Towson area, and we can meet with you while there, or we can talk by phone.

 

We must also consider the process of detoxification. Our cells are so toxic that the body cannot keep up with new toxins. Many of us use soaps on our skin that contain all kinds of toxins. Just look for the term “phthalates” on the soap wrapper and you will know what I mean. This is even on so-called “natural” soaps! This contaminates our largest organ of detoxification, our skin. Winter is here and there is nothing as relaxing or soothing as candles burning in our homes. But most candles give off horrible toxins that contaminate our second largest organ of detoxification, our lungs. Just look at your walls, windows and a tub full of hot water after burning candles and think of that “gunk” getting on your lungs! If you want truly expert advice on detoxification, we can provide that advice!

 

I also want to recommend a book that is must reading for those really “into” being optimally healthy. That book is Knockout, by Suzanne Somers. Please get it and read it. It is one dynamite and powerful book.
